Located in beautiful Columbiaville, Michigan, AMYNA is excited to present the 2nd RISE Summit the weekend of August 29 - September 1, 2008.

This retreat has been designed with the future leaders of our community in mind. Your involvement with this retreat will be catered to help you unleash the full leadership capability within yourselves and others. The idea is simple—to help shape the future of Islam in North America by helping build a new generation of Muslim leaders; to empower them with the ideas, tools and the skills necessary to succeed in their community work and the professional world.  By investing in those who invest their time in grassroots work, we fortify our communities and set the stage for future success and spiritual growth. This retreat will be limited to ONLY 75 participants from all over the U.S. and Canada to provide a close-knit learning environment.

The retreat will take place at Camp Taha (http://www.tawheedcamp.org/). The scenic camp grounds consist of over 100 acres of land, with a lake on the site. It is approximately 80 minutes from Detroit, Michigan, 4 hours from Toronto, ON, and 5 hours from Chicago, IL.

This retreat brings together religious scholars, corporate leaders, and young activists to offer a unique blend of spiritual leadership training and tactical skill building.  The knowledge and expertise of the facilitators are unparalleled, and this is definitely an incredible opportunity for young Muslim leaders!

See what participants said last year:

"On a holistic level, I was greatly impressed by the level of organization and commitment put forward by the AMYNA executives; the retreat ran smoothly and was very professional in nature. I was especially impressed with the hosts' commitment to fostering a safe and welcoming atmosphere wherein bonds of brother and sisterhood were easily formed. Moreover, it was very encouraging to see a diverse audience of active and highly educated Shi'a youth from across N. America coming together with a common vision, I truly felt amongst torch bearers of the message of our Ahlul-Bayt (a.s.). The energy was definitely transmittable and contagious!"

"It was a great exercise in helping me build very concrete models of leadership. I also enjoyed the concentrated pool of people who share similar activist values."

The objective of the retreat is to bring together young Muslim leaders who adhere to the teachings of Ahlul Bayt [a] from the most active faith communities all over the continent to network, cultivate professional leadership, enhance communication skills, and create strategic plans for their communities.
