Dr Liyakatali Takim

Dr Liyakat Takim has a Ph.D., School of Oriental & African Studies (London). Dr. Takim is Associate Professor of Islamic Studies at the University of Denver. His research interests center on the historical development of juridical and theological literature in the Classical period of Islam, as well as on Shi'i biographical literature. He is currently working on two book one of which is "Shi'ism in America". He has also authored "The Heirs of the Prophet: Charisma and Religious Authority in Shi'ite Islam." Dr. Takim's teaching interests include courses on Islamic mysticism, classical and contemporary Islam, and Islam in comparative perspective. He speaks nationally about Shi'a Islam and jurisprudence, social issues, and intra and interfaith matters.
