TMA is a student organization found in campuses throughout Canada
that was founded to cater to the needs of the followers of the Thaqalayn,
“the two weighty things,” representing the Holy Qur’an and the Ahlul-Bayt as
mentioned in the Hadith of Thaqalayn. Founded to provide a sense of
community, it also would served to allow for proper representation of Shias
in the university. Part of its platform includes promoting the teachings of the
Holy Qur’an and the purified Ahlul-Bayt, uniting and defending the followers
of the Thaqalayn from misconceptions and false propaganda, and creates
bridges of peace and unity amongst groups. Campus activities have ranged from
lectures to movie nights to informal get-togethers on Ghader, the relation between
Islam and ecology, Islam and religious pluralism, South Asia Earthquake memorial,
And evenings of spirituality.
